Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday expressed confidence in a BJP victory in Bengal and said that celebrations would be held on May 4, with sweets and jhalmuri to be distributed.

Addressing a massive public meeting in Krishnanagar, the Prime Minister said, “On May 4, there will also be celebrations of BJP’s victory in Bengal, sweets will be distributed and jhalmuri will also be shared."

Attacking the Mamata Banerjee-led TMC, PM Modi said, “By the way, I have heard that jhalmuri has also given some people a strong jolt. I have eaten jhalmuri, but it is TMC that has felt the sting."

Additionally, PM Modi appreciated the Election Commission of India for the establishment of democracy in the West Bengal Assembly elections and requested everyone to cast their votes.

“I request everyone to go and vote, a new record should be created by voters. This is the first time in 50 years that violence is very much low in the elections. I thank the Election Commission that they have established democracy in the state. This is a very big achievement of the poll body," PM Modi said.

“I congratulate the state government employees, and I am getting information that the voting percentage is higher than in previous elections," he added.
