The actress says her 18-kg weight loss was driven by health concerns, not industry pressure
Urvashi Upadhyay, currently seen in Mangal Lakshmi, didn’t set out to lose weight for the camera. Her 18-kg transformation came after a phase of declining health.Talking about it, she says, “I started this around April last year.
But honestly, by February, my health had already begun getting worse. There were days when I couldn’t even sit properly for a scene.
The next day, I would have a fever because of the pain.”The tipping point, she explains, was both physical and emotional. “My BP suddenly became high. I had palpitations and anxiety. I thought, if something happens to me, what will happen to my children? That was the turning point. I decided I had to get myself treated.
As I started losing weight slowly, all my health issues started to disappear one by one, and I felt healthier and happier.”Despite being in a visual medium, she says she never felt pressured to change for appearances. “I have never felt that pressure to look a certain way for the camera. I don’t think there is any connection between weight and acting. Health should be everyone’s top priority. In fact, my work was getting affected because I couldn’t do certain things due to body aches, and working longer shifts was becoming tough. So this transformation has also helped me perform better and be more active at my job.
