On May 31, 2025, Michael Phelps texted Jay Glazer saying, “Went to a dark place today… Going to bed now… just wanted to keep you in the loop… love ya homie.”Glazer responded within an hour with warmth and care: “I love you for telling me! Need to talk?? I can if you need. PROTECT YOUR FORTRESS!!! You deserve to protect yourself. I f—— love the s— out of you!!! Call or Facetime if you need, I’m here for ya.”
Phelps and Glazer first met in 2010 during a Subway commercial. Particularly following their 2022 podcast on sadness and anxiety, their friendship grew progressively over time. They knew how much just listening and being there for one another could help. Phelps said, “I can go to him and f— say absolutely anything. I’m not going to be judged. That’s how it should be.”
