Daniil Medvedev’s Miami Open build-up has taken an unexpected turn and it has nothing to do with tennis. The Russian star took to social media to call out United Airlines after his luggage failed to arrive, just days before he is set to compete in Miami.

For fans following the ATP Tour, this quickly became a viral moment. With a major tournament around the corner, the idea of a top player missing essential gear went viral. Medvedev’s post on X was urgent, as he openly asked the airline for help while preparing for one of the biggest events on the calendar.

Daniil Medvedev turns to social media for help

After flying from Palm Springs to Florida, Medvedev realised his bags had not made the journey with him. Instead of staying quiet, he directly reached out to the airline in a public post. He wrote, “Hi @united …need a little help. Flew from PSP to Florida yesterday and none of my bags arrived. Kind of need them to play in the @MiamiOpen ….can you help?”The message quickly went viral among fans, many of whom reacted to the unusual situation.

It is not every day that a top player heads into a Masters event without his equipment. United Airlines responded soon after, asking him to share more details privately so they could track the issue. Their reply read, “Hi there, Daniil. Thank you for reaching out. We are sorry to hear about your delayed baggage. We absolutely understand how important it is to have your belongings as quickly as possible.

Please DM your delayed bag file reference number so that we can check for update.”

On X, one fan commented, "Please give him his bags, he is top form we can't afford to have him not playing in Miami (sic)." Another joked, "I got a racket you can borrow mate."The timing of this situation makes things even more difficult for Medvedev. He is coming off a tough loss in the Indian Wells final, where Jannik Sinner beat him in straight sets, 7-6(6), 7-6(4). That result ended his hopes of lifting the title and marked another strong showing from the Italian. Sinner’s win also carried historical weight, as he became only the third man after Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer to complete the set of hard-court Masters 1000 titles. Now, the focus shifts to Miami. With the same prize pool and a stacked field, expectations are high. Medvedev, along with Carlos Alcaraz and Sinner, will once again be among the main names to watch. For now, it seems his biggest challenge is not an opponent. It is getting his bags back in time.
