Sometimes, the best things in life happen when you’ve completely given up on finding them. That was exactly the case for Olympic snowboarding legend Chloe Kim. Before she met Cleveland Browns star Myles Garrett, she was ready to call it quits on dating altogether.
At just 21, she was already a two-time gold medalist and a homeowner. She felt like her achievements created a "weird dynamic" where partners felt they had to compete with her.
How Chloe Kim’s rant about being ‘single forever’ led to a surprise meeting with Myles Garrett
In a recent interview, Chloe got incredibly candid about the frustrations of dating as a world-class athlete. She explained that she often found herself in relationships where men were intimidated by her success. One day, while venting to her physical therapist, Vin, Chloe had a bit of a "dramatic" moment. She told him, “I’m just gonna be single forever. I’m gonna get a sperm donor.
I don’t need a man. I just want kids and I’m going to live happy and free.”
But she did have a "wish list" just in case. She told Vin she wanted someone tall, handsome, kind, and most importantly just as successful as she was. She wanted a partner who understood the pressure of being at the top of their game.As it turns out, Vin also worked with Myles Garrett. He told Chloe he had the perfect person in mind. The only problem? Chloe grew up in a household that didn't really watch American football.
When Vin invited her to a game to meet his "star client," Chloe misheard the name "Myles Garrett" and thought she was going to see the famous EDM DJ, Martin Garrix.Chloe showed up to the stadium expecting a concert. She spent the entire game cheering for the wrong team and asking when the music was going to start. It wasn't until later that she realized her "blind date" was actually a 6'4", 270-pound defensive end, not a DJ in a booth.Despite the hilarious mix-up, the two hit it off immediately. Because they are both elite athletes, they share a level of understanding that most people don't. Chloe has described Myles as her "rock," saying he is one of the few people who truly understands the mental and physical toll of professional sports. From venting about being single forever to finding her "best friend," Chloe’s story proves that sometimes your therapist really does know what’s best for you even if you end up at a football game by mistake.
