Butt asked for the Argentine stopper-back to handle inputs in a positive manner and that reviews about the player's on field showing were anything but personal.

Former Manchester United player Nicky Butt clapped back at Lisandro Martinez after the defender’s response to criticism from pundits, including United legend Paul Scholes.

Martinez, who was singled out for his diminutive stature, managed to keep Erling Haaldn quiet in United’s 2-0 win over City in the Derby and the Argentine defender hit back at criticism.

“Honestly, he can say whatever he wants. I already told him — if he wants to say something to me, he can come wherever he wants. To my house, wherever. I don’t care," Martinez had said.

Butt asked for the Argentine stopper-back to handle inputs in a positive manner and that reviews about the player’s on field showing were anything but personal.

“Literally, if you’re going to get so emotional about someone saying something about you, you shouldn’t be at a big football club because you’ll get that for the rest of your career at Man United," Butt  said.

“I got so much crap when I played at United and Newcastle, but the next week you get plaudits and clapped at. There’s no personal issue with us and Martinez, none," he added.

Bryan Mbeumo, and Patrick Dorgu netted for the Red Devils to give interim manager and former midfielder Michael Carrick yet another memorable day at OT.

Mbeumo, who was played through on goal by Bruno Fernandes on the overturn in the 68th minute of the game, made no mistake in depositing the ball into the back of the net past City custodian Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Dorgu got on the end of a Matheus Cunha cross in the 76th minute to give United the insurance goal as he doubled the hosts lead over the noisy neighbours.
