IIT Delhi MTech admissions 2026: The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has unveiled new measures to expand access to its M. Tech programmes for national candidates in the academic year 2026-27.

The Institute will offer up to 30 per cent supernumerary seats under the self-sponsored full-time category for students with a valid GATE score.

Candidates admitted under this category will not be eligible for an Institute Assistantship at the time of admission. Conversion from self-sponsored status to Institute Assistantship will be governed by prevailing norms of the Institute.IIT Delhi has also announced that currently registered students of Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs) who are likely to graduate with a CGPA of 8.0 or higher on a 10-point scale may apply for admission to M.

Tech, PhD, and other postgraduate programmes is now open. Applicants are required to submit their online applications and pay the requisite fee by April 11, 2026, 4:00 p.m.

The online application process commenced on March 21, 2026, at 12:00 noon.

Written tests and interviews for shortlisted candidates are scheduled to take place between May 13 and June 15, 2026. Orientation for new postgraduate students is set for July 18, 2026, followed by registration from July 18 to July 19. Students from CFTIs with a CGPA of 8.0 or above are exempt from the GATE requirement.
