Tamil Nadu government organized a grand function at the Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai to celebrate the 50th anniversary of veteran musician Ilaiyaraaja. Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan, Superstar Rajinikanth, and many others participated in this event. Rajinikanth recalls Ilaiyaraaja's discipline and divinity

Rajinikanth, speaking with emotion, said, “Once upon a time, a music composer suddenly came. We all leaned towards him. But Ilaiyaraaja, without worrying about it, would drive to Prasad Studio in his car every day at 6.30 am and immerse himself in recording,” he recalled. He also said that he had only read about miraculous people in Puranas and epics, and praised Ilaiyaraaja, saying, "The miraculous person I have seen with my own eyes is Ilaiyaraaja.

At the same time, the 'Coolie' actor humorously added, "Ilaiyaraaja would say that he would compose the same music for everyone. But that's not true. He would only give the best songs to Kamal. I will record this in the presence of the Chief Minister," he said with humor. He also emphasized that Ilayaraja can be criticized and discussed, but there should be no personal attacks. If you have justice, fairness, and hard work, everything will come your way, that is Ilayaraja's journey," he said to which fans applauded.

Rajinikanth praises Ilaiyaraaja’s uniqueness

Pointing out the musician's uniqueness, Rajinikanth emphasized, "No one else has the arrogance that Ilaiyaraaja doesn't have. But he deserves it. At the end of the speech, he said, “Kamal Haasan singing four lines and me speaking so much are one thing. This is the power of music. I am definitely eager to see Ilaiyaraaja’s autobiography if it gets made. If there is no opportunity, I will write the script myself.” He also captivated the hearts of thousands of fans present at the ceremony.

Rajinikanth's speech, which combined his experience, humor, and values, became a special moment of the ceremony.Notably, Ilaiyaraaja's biopic is underway. The film will be helmed by Arun Matheswaran. The film's pre-production work is still under works. Only time can tell if the makers rope in Rajinikanth to help out with the screenplay.
