An illegal coal mine collapsed in Jharkhand's Dhanbad on Friday.
Ramgarh: The Ramgarh administration, with the help of Central Coalfields Limited (CCL), on Tuesday blew up an illegal entrance to an abandoned underground coal mine, which was used for illegal mining, in the district. The Kedla 6 mine, located in Mandu block, had been abandoned for several years now. However, coal was being excavated illegally from the site using a tunnel-shaped opening, officials said.High-intensity explosives were stuffed into a deep hole made by a heavy drilling machine. The area surrounding the mine was sealed, and a large police contingent stood on watch as explosives were triggered around 11 am.Confirming the development, Ramgarh SP Ajay Kumar said, “Police had earlier closed the entrance of the illegal mine with the help of CCL. The latest action is to ensure that no mining activity takes place in the prohibited pit. All police stations have been strictly directed to curb illegal mining activity across the district and keep vigil on any unlawful act,” he said.
