Illegal liquor seized in two incidents in Barwani

Times News NetworkBarwani: Large quantities of illegal liquor were seized in two incidents in Barwani district .Excise department team stopped a pickup vehicle near Dawana town at Agra-Mumbai national highway under Thikri police station limits during a routine checking drive.

The driver abandoned the vehicle and fled before officials could apprehend him.

A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of 100 cartons of whiskyconcealed beneath fodder sacks. Officials said that the seized liquor amounted to around 900 litres.The liquor consignment and the vehicle were confiscated. A case has been registered against an unidentified accused under the Madhya Pradesh Excise Act.In another case, Chachariya police outpost team seized 42 cartons of illegally stored country-made and foreign liquor from a house in Parcha village, said Sendhwa SDOP Ajay Waghmare. Police are investigating thesource of the liquor and those involved in its storage and distribution, he added.
