For most people, paying nearly ₹1 lakh in monthly rent comes with the expectation that basic facilities will work without a hitch. But a Mumbai actor says that was far from his experience.
His Instagram video, showing him climbing 30 floors after all five lifts in his residential building reportedly stopped working during the rain, has now gone viral and struck a chord with social media users. The actor, identified as Mohit Hiranandani, shared the clip on Instagram after the lifts in his residential building reportedly went out of service because of the rain.
Actor shares viral video
In the video, Hiranandani is seen taking the stairs instead of the lift. The text on the clip read:“Paying nearly ₹1 lakh a month to live in a ‘luxury’ building only for all 5 lifts to give up the moment it rains, so now you're climbing 30 floors like it's a trek.”
He says the problems continued
According to Hiranandani, the lift issue was not the only inconvenience.Sharing the video on Instagram, he wrote, “And then when you get home. No water. Waah Mumbai life!”
Internet says many have faced similar issues
The post quickly caught people's attention, with several users saying the experience felt familiar. One user wrote, “This is exactly why luxury buildings in Mumbai are only luxury in brochures.”Another commented, “Paying so much rent and still dealing with lifts and water issues is peak Mumbai life.”
A third user wrote, “Thirty floors by stairs after a long day sounds like a punishment, not a homecoming.”Another Instagram user said, “Builders charge premium rates, but basic maintenance still fails when it rains.”One more added, “Mumbai rent is already painful, and then residents have to deal with problems like these every monsoon.”Disclaimer: This report is based on a viral social media video and public reactions.
