Teyana Taylor approaches major appearances with a clear routine. She collaborates directly with designers, reviews sketches, and then turns to her daughters for the final word.“They’re my co-stylists,” Taylor says with a laugh. “With the big awards shows, I design directly with the designer. And then I turn to my babies like, ‘What y’all think about this? Do I do the one with the party in the back or the party in the front?’” (via USA Today). Her daughters offer their own commentary. “like, ‘Ooh, Mommy, what’s this?’ ” Taylor adds. “They’re about to be fashionistas. They definitely have final approval on how I walk out that door.”

After the Golden Globes, Taylor headed home before attending after-parties. “before I could even get to any real parties, it was like, ‘OK, Mommy, you can go out, but can you just read us a bedtime story first?’ I'm lying in bed with my Golden Globe like, ‘All right!’ ” Taylor says. “When I tell you I never made it out (laughs). And they do it to me every single time ‒ I know it's a setup by now. My girls are like, ‘We are the party! We're going to Club Bed!’ ”At the Palm Springs International Film Festival, she experienced another candid moment.

“The moment it was time for me to get my award, these little rascals were literally on their phones!” Taylor says. “I had to tell them midspeech, ‘Get off them phones!’ It was just so funny, and it brightened up the whole room that I had this real mom moment in the middle of all this. But that's why I love having them with me, because they calm my nerves.

It makes me proud to make them proud ‒ they're everything.”

Taylor has spoken openly about co-parenting with Shumpert following their divorce, finalized in July 2024.“Divorce, to me, is you’re grieving the death of a living being,” Taylor told Vanity Fair in January this year. “I think once children are involved, you understand the importance of really still having to show up for each other.”“At least for the next 18 years, and being the best co-parents that we can be,” she continued, adding that she does not “want people to start feeling scared of marriage, because marriage is a beautiful thing.”When announcing their separation, she wrote, “In all fairness, Iman and I are separated and have been for a while. To be 1000% clear, ‘infidelity’ ain’t one of the reasons for our departure. We are still the best of friends, great business partners and are one hell of a team when it comes to co-parenting our 2 beautiful children.”“Most importantly we are FAMILY & in the 10yrs together, 7yrs married, we ain’t ever played with or about THAT,” she added. The former couple is now focused on their kids following their divorce battle.
