IMD issues orange alert for very heavy rain in parts of MP

Bhopal: The India Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for very heavy rainfall in parts of Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday, as the monsoon system is expected to remain highly active over northern and central regions for the next three days.Districts including Guna, Ashoknagar, Vidisha, Sagar and Tikamgarh are likely to receive very heavy rainfall on July 7. The focus of intense rain will shift to Bhind, Datia, Shivpuri, Guna and Ashoknagar on Wednesday. Bhind and Datia are expected to continue witnessing very heavy rain on Thursday.Bhopal remains under a yellow warning for heavy rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The city is likely to see spells of moderate to heavy rain along with gusty winds at isolated places. The warning is expected to be downgraded on Thursday to thunderstorms and light to moderate rain as the system weakens.Bhopal received evening showers on Monday, bringing relief from humidity and a dip in temperatures after sunset. Bhopal recorded a maximum temperature of 33.4°C during the day, 1.1°C higher than Sunday.

According to IMD, widespread rainfall will continue across MP through Wednesday, with heavy rain likely in central, eastern and south-eastern districts. Thunderstorms with lightning and winds of 40-50 kmph are also expected. From Thursday, rainfall is likely to reduce over western MP, while northern districts bordering Uttar Pradesh will remain under the influence of the active monsoon.
