Fraudsters use automated bots and software programmes to create fake profiles to book Tatkal train tickets and resell them at high rates.
Ranchi: An impersonator was arrested on Tuesday while attempting to appear in place of a candidate during the Railway Group D examination conducted by the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB).
The incident took place at the Arunima Infotech exam centre in Lower Chutia under the Namkum police station area.Namkum police station officer-in-charge, Manoj Kumar, said the impersonator was identified as Lalu Kumar alias Anish Kumar (33).“The accused had come to appear for the examination in place of his brother-in-law, Jawahar Prasad, from Bihar’s Gaya district. During the biometric verification of the candidates, the impersonation came to light as the candidate’s details did not match those of the candidate appearing for the examination. The officers on duty at the exam centre contacted the police following the incident. We then arrested the impersonator.
He is currently in our custody,” the police officer said.
