Ranchi: Alleging that businessmen in Jharkhand have been facing hurdles to operate freely, the BJP on Friday claimed that the JMM-led govt was against promotion and development of trade commerce in the state. Congress, which a part of the governing alliance, rejected BJP’s claims.Addressing media at party office, state BJP president Aditya Sahu said, “Traders and business community in the state are hassled by criminal gangs, law and order issues and commission raj. While govt may undertake foreign tours, but reality back home is different. The chief minister should set the house in order first before trying to woo investors. Any investment can only come when they are free from any fear.”Sahu also cited how illegal mining of sand and other minerals are causing losses to the state exchequer and farmers are struggling due to improper paddy procurement.
“If the govt is serious of anything, it should stop corruption, infiltrators, atrocities against tribals, dalits, backward classes, child kidnappings and so on,” he said.Hitting back at the BJP, Congress spokesperson Satish Paul Munjini said he statements are testimony to saffron camp’s political frustration.“BJP leaders should look within before pointing fingers at others," he said."BJP has suddenly become concerned about traders, but during their own misrule it resorted to open loot of state’s resources and illegal coal business. Even today BJP MPs and leaders' names keep surfacing in illegal coal business in the state. The CM’s efforts to bring investment reflects govt's commitment to development and job creation,” he said.
