Hazaribag: The 100ft ‘Mahaveeri’ flag installed at Khutra panchayat in Katkamsandi block of Hazaribag district on Wednesday is grabbing eyeballs not only due to its size but also the fact that a tailor belonging to the minority community has made it.Hazaribag has often been in the news due to cases of communal violence, especially during festive times.Suleiman Miyan, who has been stitching flags during Ram Navami for the past three decades, said, “It took me a year to prepare the flag out of around 451 metres of cloth. The flag is being appreciated by all.”Attending the installation by the Bajrang Samiti Akhara, Sadar MLA Pradip Prasad said, “This is the tallest ‘Mahaveeri’ flag erected by any Ram Navami organising committee in the district.
Hazaribag’s Ram Navami is globally recognised and such initiatives further enhance its legacy.”Khutra mukhiya Anwar Ul Haque said, “Similar traditions had existed a century ago during both Ram Navami and Muharram but faded over time. Reviving it from Khutra is a matter of pride.”President of the Bajrang Samiti Akhara, Khutra, Ajay Saw, said, “We aimed at restoring tradition with participation from all communities.”A resident of Rauliganj on Barkagaon Road, Suleiman said, “My flag stands as a symbol of brotherhood.”This is the tallest ‘Mahaveeri’ flag erected by any Ram Navami organising committee in the district
