In pictures: Thousands feared dead as twin earthquakes strike Venezuela

It was just another Wednesday (June 4) evening. Then the ground shook — once. And then it shook again. In Venezuela, two powerful earthquakes turned ordinary streets into fields of concrete, dust and fear — leaving rescuers to search through broken buildings as survivors waited outside, unsure whether home was still safe.
A day later, as the search through the rubble continued, thousands of Venezuelans were feared dead beneath the rubble of collapsed buildings.
