India and England will take to the pitch at Lord's with a simple goal in mind. The hosts need to take six more wickets, while the visitors need 135 more runs to win. With Day 5 of the 3rd Test set to commence, India need their batters to deliver.

While India managed to end England's second innings impressively at 192, their batters also faced a roadblock.Ben Stokes' side’s relentless attack with the ball saw India lose Yashasvi Jaiswal for a duck, after which main man Shubman Gill and Karun Nair also departed cheaply. Nightwatchman Akash Deep lost his wicket to captain Ben Stokes, leaving KL Rahul at the crease.

Ahead of play on Day 5, former India star and captain Anil Kumble singled out a player who can steer India's hopes and lead them to victory.

“KL Rahul is going to be the main man (for India). If India are to go past this total tomorrow, he needs to be there till the end — not just give India a good start,” Kumble said on JioHotstar. “This is going to be a very important knock. If India have to cross the line, KL Rahul will have to play a major role,” said the veteran.

With Rahul at 33 from 47 balls and Rishabh Pant coming in, the partnership between the two will also play a huge role in whether India will gain the advantage heading into the penultimate Test.

Analysing the potential partnership, Kumble said, “India had a great chance. They did really well to restrict England to 192 and then got to 41 for 1. I thought Yashasvi Jaiswal played a very poor shot early in his innings, but Karun Nair and KL Rahul batted well to get to that 41.

Then once Karun got out and Shubman Gill followed, it’s now slightly tilted back in England’s favour. India will need a massive partnership from KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant tomorrow.”The veteran also ruled out the possibility of a draw, asserting that either India or England will prevail. With the series balanced at 1-1 and the stakes higher than ever, Monday's action promises a fiery encounter. Ahead of the game, it was announced that Mohammed Siraj was fined 15% of his match fee and handed a demerit point for his aggressive celebration and making physical contact with Ben Duckett. Duckett, too, taunted Gill when he came on to bat, saying that scoring 600 is 'enough' for the captain in this series. Gill departed for just 6 from 9 balls — his lowest score yet in the series.
