The Indian women’s hockey team secured their spot in the Super 4s of the Women’s Asia Cup 2025 with a dominant 12-0 win over Singapore.
Hat-tricks from Navneet (14’, 20’, 28’) and Mumtaz (2’, 32’, 39’), along with a brace from Neha (11’, 38’), powered India’s attack. Contributions from Lalremsiami (13’), Udita (29’), Sharmila (45’), and Rutuja Pisal (53’) rounded off a comprehensive victory.
How India Beat Singapore?
India started strong, opening the scoring within two minutes as Mumtaz Khan fired a reverse stick shot from the top of the circle. Singapore struggled to contain India’s early onslaught, and despite defending the first penalty corner in the eighth minute, Neha capitalised on a rebound in the 11th minute to make it 2-0. Lalremsiami extended the lead to 3-0 in the 13th minute from close range. Navneet then converted a penalty corner in the 14th minute, ending the first quarter at 4-0.
In the second quarter, Singapore displayed more resilience, but Navneet’s powerful strike in the 20th minute increased the lead to 5-0. India continued to press, earning multiple penalty corners. Navneet completed her hat-trick in the 28th minute, and Udita added another from a penalty corner to give India a 7-0 lead at half-time.
India maintained control in the third quarter, showcasing precise passing and strategic play. In the 32nd minute, Lalremsiami assisted Mumtaz to make it 8-0. Neha netted again in the 38th minute from a penalty corner, and Mumtaz completed her hat-trick shortly after. Sharmila extended the lead to 11-0 by converting a rebound from a penalty corner at the end of the quarter.
In the final quarter, India continued their dominance, with Rutuja Pisal scoring from a deflection in the 53rd minute. Singapore sought a consolation goal but were unable to break through India’s defence. India closed out the match authoritatively.
India’s next match in the Super 4s is on 10 September against the second-placed team from Pool A.
