Viral video from Bengaluru restaurant shows people queuing for free food, triggers fierce debate

A restaurant in Bengaluru has unexpectedly found itself at the center of a viral social media debate. It was not a new dish or a grand launch that grabbed attention, but a long line of people waiting outside the restaurant during a free food offer.

A video of the crowd has now spread widely online, with the discussion moving far beyond the queue itself. The person who filmed the video shared his own take on the situation, saying the crowd reflected what he called “psychological poverty” rather than financial hardship. His remarks quickly sparked mixed reactions, with social media users offering very different opinions on whether standing in line for free food should even be criticized.

What was happening outside the restaurant?

The viral clip showed a huge number of people waiting outside a restaurant in Bengaluru. While posting the video on Instagram, the man first asked, “Try to guess why such a long line is there,” before revealing that the restaurant had announced a three-day free food offer for its promotion.According to him, the offer was available on June 29, June 30, and July 1. He also claimed that many people had spent nearly two-and-a-half to three hours standing in the queue.

Video creator shares his view

Along with the video, the man shared why the scene surprised him. He said he had only seen such long queues at temples.

“I have only seen such a long line in temples in front of God. Today, I was very surprised to see that there is actually poverty in India. But that poverty is at a mental level, not a financial one.”He also claimed that many people in the queue appeared to come from financially comfortable families.“People from good families were in line with their parents, wives, husbands, children. They have been in line for 2.5 to 3 hours.

Because a new restaurant has been opened. There is an offer for 3 days: 29th June, 30th June and 1st July,” he said. “They are serving food for free.”In the caption of the Instagram post, he further wrote, “India is a weird country, where people are not poor financially but psychologically.”

Social media has two different opinions

The video soon drew hundreds of comments, with users reacting in very different ways. Some supported the man's opinion.“Kitne velle log hain hamare yahan. Free ke liye kuch bhi,” one user wrote.“I am damn sure agar free ka hai to sab extra hi mangaynge aur waste hi karenge kyuki civic sense bhi to nhi hai,” another commented.A third user said, “No doubt most of them will be well educated. What a pity. Education has nothing to do with character. Parents teaching their children to follow the same.”Others, however, did not see anything wrong with people making use of the restaurant's offer.“So? Is that a crime?” one individual asked.Another user commented, “Babai Tiffins generally has this crowd even when it’s not free.”A different individual mentioned, “This doesn’t happen only in our India; I have seen the same in Italy, Vietnam and other countries too for popular eateries.”Disclaimer: The article is based on a viral social media post.
