Singh said India has already taken key steps towards developing its own fifth-generation fighter aircraft

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday announced that India will manufacture engines for fifth-generation fighter jets in collaboration with French aerospace company Safran.
In a post on X, Singh said India has already taken key steps towards developing its own fifth-generation fighter aircraft. The upcoming engine project with Safran will be a crucial part of that goal
“Today, we have also taken steps forward in the direction of developing fifth-generation fighter aircraft. We are also moving towards manufacturing aircraft engines within India. We are going to start engine production in India in collaboration with the French company Safran," Singh said.
