INDIA bloc's Veep candidate Sudershan Reddy seeks all-party support
Soon after being declared the INDIA bloc’s nominee for the Vice Presidential election, former Supreme Court judge B Sudershan Reddy on Tuesday appealed to all political parties, including those in the NDA, to back his candidature. Following the announcement, Reddy urged, “I appeal to all parties to support me… I appeal to all NDA parties also to support me.” The election is scheduled for September 9.

The INDIA bloc on Tuesday named former Supreme Court judge Sudershan Reddy as its candidate for the Vice Presidential election. Before his tenure in the apex court, Reddy served as Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court and as a judge of the Andhra Pradesh High Court, retiring from the Supreme Court in 2011. Announcing the joint nominee, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said the contest was an “ideological battle,” stressing that all Opposition parties are united and warning that “democratic values are under attack.”

Ajit Doval meets Wang Yi for talks on border issues and bilateral ties
Indian and Chinese officials met in New Delhi for talks on the boundary question. The meeting between National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is seen as a critical step towards improving bilateral relations ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's scheduled visit to China for the SCO Summit. Discussions focused on rebuilding mutual trust, managing disagreements, and stabilizing the borders. The Chinese Foreign Minister stated, "a healthy and stable China-India relationship serves the fundamental and long-term interests of both of our countries." The dialogue also covered economic ties, including the issue of critical minerals. Both sides are working to build on the consensus reached during the 23rd round of special representative talks and a meeting between their leaders in Kazan last October.
