India’s Anahat Singh will take on Egypt’s Hana Moataz in the women’s final, while in the men’s category Abhay Singh and Veer Chotrani booked their places in the title clash of the Indian Open squash on Saturday.

Anahat defeated compatriot Tanvi 3-1 (11-6, 9-11, 11-8, 11-2) to reach the final. After controlling the early exchanges, the Indian ace claimed the opening game, only for Tanvi to fight back and level the match.

Despite Tanvi’s strong start in the third game, Anahat grew in confidence and control. Her consistent shot-making and smooth movement around the court helped her clinch both the third and fourth games.

In the other women’s semifinal, Moataz beat compatriot Nadien Elhammamy 3-1 (11-8, 5-11, 11-5, 11-7) in an all-Egyptian contest.

After edging a closely fought opening game, Moataz dropped the second but raised her intensity in the final two games to secure her place in the final.

All-Indian Showdown In Men’s!

In the men’s event, Abhay overcame a strong challenge from Malaysia’s Ameeshenraj Chandaran to win 3-1 (11-9, 9-11, 11-3, 11-8).

Abhay was tested throughout by the unseeded Chandaran in a gripping encounter. The Malaysian matched the Indian in long rallies, producing powerful forehands and sharp returns.

Abhay started strongly, racing to a 9-4 lead in the first game. Chandaran responded with five consecutive points to level at 9-9, but the Indian held his nerve to close out the game 11-9.

In the second game, Chandaran trailed 8-9 before reeling off three straight points to take it 11-9 and level the match.

Abhay then dominated the third game, winning it 11-3. The fourth was another intense battle, with Abhay recovering from 2-6 down to draw level at 7-7 before sealing the match 11-8.

In the other men’s semifinal, fourth seed Chotrani defeated another Malaysian, Sanjay Jeeva, also by a 3-1 margin (11-7, 11-5, 5-11, 11-6), setting up an all-Indian showdown for the title.

Chotrani recovered from a slightly nervy start to take the opening game 11-7 and maintained his dominance to win the second 11-5. Jeeva hit back to claim the third 11-5, but Chotrani responded strongly, taking the fourth 11-6 to seal the match in his favour.
