Indian schools in UAE announce early term break, move remaining exams and classes online

Several Indian curriculum schools in the United Arab Emirates have announced an early end-of-year break for students after completing most examinations, while shifting remaining academic activities online to maintain continuity.School leaders say the adjustments aim to ensure both safety and minimal disruption to students’ academic progress, with exam schedules and results processing continuing despite the calendar changes. At Shining Star International School in Abu Dhabi, principal Abhilasha Singh confirmed that students have already completed their final examinations.“Our exams concluded on Friday, March 6. The examination period began on February 16, and both our primary and secondary students have now completed their assessments.

Last week’s exams were conducted online, so there has been no disruption to the students’ examination schedule,” she said. She added that teachers will continue to work remotely while compiling and finalizing results as the school monitors ongoing developments.

Online exams continue in Dubai

At Springdales School Dubai in Dubai, principal David Jones explained that students were already taking their Term 3 examinations when the decision to advance the break was made.

“In Indian curriculum schools, we do not typically observe a spring break. Instead, we conduct our end-of-year examinations, after which students go on their term break,” he said.To accommodate the revised academic calendar, remaining exams will be held online between 9am and 10am, with shorter question papers designed to be completed within an hour. Students in Grades 6 to 8 are scheduled to take Mathematics, Science and English assessments under this arrangement.Jones also noted that bridge classes for students moving into Grades 10 and 12 will begin Monday and will take place online.“These are crucial academic years so the bridge sessions will be held online for these students,” he said.He added that retests are only granted in cases of genuine medical emergencies to maintain the integrity of the examination process.

New academic year timeline shared

In Ras Al Khaimah, another Indian School Ras Al Khaimah confirmed that online classes concluded on March 6, with students beginning their break immediately.According to a school circular, the holiday period will continue until March 30, when the new academic year begins. The notice also outlined key academic dates for the coming year, including summer and winter vacation schedules, to help families plan in advance. The circular added: “Retests are scheduled to start on March 23, with a detailed timetable to be shared with parents soon.”Administrators across Indian curriculum schools say they are communicating closely with parents to reassure them that learning will remain uninterrupted despite the revised schedules.
