Indian tourists at a Bali resort were stopped during checkout after staff found missing hotel items in their luggage, with a video sparking strong reactions online.

Hotel Staff Check Bags After Suspicion
A group of Indian tourists has come under scrutiny after being accused of taking items from a hotel in Bali. The incident reportedly took place at Asvara Resort Ubud in Kelusa Village, Payangan district, where staff stopped the guests during checkout after noticing missing items. A video related to the situation has now been shared online, showing hotel staff checking the tourists’ luggage. The clip has led to strong reactions, with many people discussing the behaviour and its impact.
The video was shared online along with claims about what had happened at the hotel. In the clip, a person off-camera says that the tourists are from India and accuses them of taking items from the property. Another voice is heard saying, “Not all Indians are like that."
Hotel Staff Check Bags After Suspicion
As the video continues, hotel staff can be seen opening the tourists’ luggage and taking out various items. Some objects are already placed on the floor nearby, including towels and a storage box. The scene shows staff carefully going through the bags while speaking to the guests.
Reports state that the tourists had stayed at the resort since April 16 for a few days before checking out on April 19. During the checkout process, staff noticed that certain items from the rooms were missing. This led them to stop the guests and check their belongings.
According to details shared by authorities, several items were later found inside the luggage. These included pool towels, bath towels, a doormat, kimono robes, a hair dryer, utensils, and a TV remote box.
“The findings were reported to management, which then halted the check-out process for clarification," Gianyar Police spokesperson Iptu I Gusti Ngurah Suardita told Bali Times.
A Bali Times spokesperson also confirmed that the guests had been staying at the resort for a short period before the issue came up during checkout.

Online Users React Strongly
The clip led to many reactions online, with people sharing their views on the situation. A user wrote, “They can afford to travel abroad, but can’t afford to buy their own spoons and towels?" Another added, “Pathetic behaviour".
A person commented, “Such shameless people malign the name of our great country. They were not jailed there, but upon return they should be put behind bars, their passports should be permanently revoked, and they should also be put on the No FLY list of all the Airlines."
Others also shared similar thoughts. A user said, “Why do some folks behave so cheaply? Bringing embarrassment to the entire Indian community."
Another wrote, “Feeling so embarrassed while watching it," while someone else added, “Black list them from travelling…faces are not clear. How disgusting is this mentality."
Matter Settled Without Legal Action
Police later shared that no official case was filed in this matter. Gianyar Police spokesperson Iptu I Gusti Ngurah Suardita said, “The issue was settled amicably, with all items returned and no further legal process pursued."
After the items were returned, the hotel allowed the guests to complete their checkout process.
