DGCA issues notices to IndiGo CEO: Aviation regulator DGCA has issued show-cause notices to IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers and Accountable Manager Isidro Porqueras over massive flight disruptions that have stretched on for six consecutive days. The regulator flagged major lapses in planning, oversight and resource management, especially concerning the implementation of the revised Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL). Both executives have been given 24 hours to respond.

Govt says normalcy restored at airports: Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu held a high-level ‘serious meeting’ with IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers, attended by senior officials including the Civil Aviation Secretary and DGCA chief. The government said that normalcy has now been restored at airports nationwide and all necessary facilities are being provided to passengers. Despite this, IndiGo has already cancelled hundreds of flights, nearly 1,600 on Friday and over 800 on Saturday, due to crew shortages, affecting thousands of travellers.

What’s next: According to government officials, appropriate action on the IndiGo disruptions will be taken based on the inquiry committee’s findings. The immediate priority remains restoring stability in flight operations, with the airline expected to provide clear explanations for operational failures and ensure better preparedness going forward.
