Indian Oil Corporation and SUN Mobility’s equal joint venture Indofast Energy has set up 80 electric vehicle battery swap stations across 25 railway stations in Hyderabad and Secunderabad divisions of South Central Railway (SCR).
As part of the partnership, it plans to deploy an additional 40 facilities over the next three months, the company said on Wednesday. Of the 80, Secunderabad division hosts 56 facilities, while the remaining are under Hyderabad division.
Ride-sharing drivers, last-mile delivery partners and daily commuters using electric two- and three-wheelers will benefit from facilities that besides eliminating range anxiety will boost productivity through quick, convenient battery swaps. “We are proud to partner with Indian Railways on this transformative journey and excited to continue expanding this collaboration,” CEO Anant Badjatya said.
SCR Divisional Railway Manager (Secunderabad) R. Gopalakrishnan said “this first-of-its-kind initiative with SCR, in partnership with Indofast Energy, marks a significant step towards building cleaner and more efficient transit ecosystems. The deployment of battery swapping stations within our premises not only benefits passengers through faster, cleaner last-mile connectivity, but also serves the public by reducing emissions and congestion around station areas.”
