The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Mysuru chapter, and the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) on Saturday launched the “Adopt-a-Stretch” Road Adoption Initiative, under which industries will take responsibility for maintaining road stretches around their premises to help keep the city clean and green.

An MoU was signed between the two organisations on Saturday as part of the World Environment Day observance. The initiative seeks to position Mysuru among the cleanest cities in the country through active participation from industries, institutions, and citizens.

Under the programme, industries will adopt road stretches surrounding their premises and undertake regular maintenance and cleanliness activities. The MCC will support the effort by ensuring upkeep of the adopted stretches and taking action against unauthorised waste dumping through technology-based monitoring.

According to CII, the initiative promotes long-term cleanliness, environmental stewardship, civic responsibility, and community participation through a public-private partnership model. “This industry-government-technology partnership signals a data-driven push to make Mysuru a model clean city once again,” CII said.

CII Mysuru has invited industries, educational institutions, resident welfare associations, non-governmental organisations, and citizens to join the initiative and contribute towards the vision of a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable Mysuru. Participants will be provided with guidance and safety instructions for carrying out clean-up activities.

To mark World Environment Day, CII, in collaboration with MCC and Young Indians (Yi), also organised a clean-up drive under the theme “Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For Our Future.”

The drive was carried out along the Mysuru Ring Road and was followed by an awareness session at J.K. Ground, where participants discussed sustainable urban practices, responsible waste management, and the importance of community involvement in maintaining a clean environment.
