'Insult To Hindu Faith': BJP Slams Congress Over Poster Depicting Rahul Gandhi As Lord Parshuram

BJP leader Amit Malviya slams Congress for a poster showing Rahul Gandhi as Lord Parashuram, calling it an "insult to Hindu faith" after Youth Congress's ritual in Varanasi.

BJP leader Amit Malviya on Friday slammed the Congress over a poster depicting Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi as Lord Parashuram, calling it a “profound insult to Hindu faith and tradition."

In a post on X, Malviya said, “Congress comparing Rahul Gandhi to Bhagwan Parashuram is not just absurd, it is a profound insult to Hindu faith and tradition."

BJP Calls Rahul Gandhi’s Poster An ‘Insult’

Calling Lord Parashuram a “symbol of courage, discipline, sacrifice, and dharma", the BJP leader slammed the rival party for comparing the Congress leader with the divine figure, saying the Lok Sabha LoP’s political journey is marked by “repeated electoral failures, political inconsistency, and a complete lack of accomplishment."

“Bhagwan Parashuram is revered as the sixth avatar of Lord Vishnu, a symbol of courage, discipline, sacrifice, and dharma. To equate him with a politician whose public life has been marked by repeated electoral failures, political inconsistency, and a complete lack of accomplishment is an affront to millions of Hindus," he further wrote.

Youth Congress Performed ‘Dugdhabhishek’ On Rahul’s Poster

Questioning the Congress’s approach, the BJP leader further asked whether the grand-old party would dare to disrespect any other religion besides Hinduism.

“Would Congress dare make similar comparisons involving figures sacred to other faiths? Or is disrespect reserved only for Hindu beliefs and icons?" he asked.

He further accused Congress of trivialising “Hindu symbols for political messaging."

“The real question is: why does Congress repeatedly trivialize and appropriate Hindu symbols for political messaging? Hindus deserve an answer," he added.

Malviya’s remarks came after a video surfaced on X showing members of the Varanasi unit of the Youth Congress performing ‘dugdhabhishek’ on a poster of Rahul Gandhi. The poster portrayed the Congress leader holding an axe associated with Lord Parashuram in one hand and the Constitution of India in the other.

The event was organised on the occasion of Rahul Gandhi’s 56th birthday on Friday. Birthday greetings for the Congress MP poured in from across the political spectrum, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who wished him “good health" in a post on X.
