Churachandpur: A two-day international conference on “A Decade of Act East Policy: Grassroot Perspectives from North East India” began at Rayburn College here on Thursday, bringing together academics and policy experts to assess the impact of India’s outreach to Southeast Asia. The conference aims to analyse the local impact of Act East Policy initiatives — from border haats and highways to rural livelihoods — and assess whether economic opportunities have been inclusive or have deepened inequalities. It also seeks to document community agency and generate district-level evidence to inform future policy. The conference, organised by Rayburn College and the Indo-Myanmar Borderland Institute in collaboration with the Indian Council of World Affairs, will continue on Friday.
