Inter Milan completed a memorable domestic double on Wednesday by defeating Lazio 2-0 in the Coppa Italia final at the Stadio Olimpico.
Fresh from securing their 21st Serie A title, Inter again underlined their dominance as an Adam Marusic own goal and a strike from Lautaro Martinez sealed the club’s 10th Italian Cup triumph.
Lazio vs Inter Milan – As It Happened

Inter Milan took control early and opened the scoring in the 14th minute when Marusic inadvertently diverted the ball into his own net while attempting to clear a corner. The Milan side continued to dictate possession and tempo, keeping Lazio pinned back for long spells.
Their advantage doubled in the 35th minute after Lazio defender Nuno Tavares lost possession dangerously close to his own penalty area. Denzel Dumfries reacted quickly, squaring the ball for Martinez, who calmly tapped in his 22nd goal in all competitions this season.
“We deserved the trophies after a good season," Inter coach Cristian Chivu told Mediaset.
“Winning the league and cup is never something you can take for granted. We’re very happy."
Inter comfortably controlled the second half as Lazio struggled to create meaningful chances. Luis Henrique nearly added a third goal for Inter midway through the second period, while Lazio’s best opportunity ended in frustration when Boulaye Dia’s effort struck goalkeeper Josep Martinez awkwardly.
For Lazio, the defeat compounded a difficult season marked by fan protests against club owner Claudio Lotito. Supporters voiced their anger throughout the final, despite returning in large numbers for the occasion.
“I’m disappointed for the boys, because morale is low at the moment, and for the fans who came back tonight, who came back in numbers tonight," said Lazio coach Maurizio Sarri.
“Tonight we just came up against a better team than us."
Martinez later praised Inter’s consistency and mentality after another trophy-winning campaign.
“We showed good results, performances, intensity, so I am proud that we are finishing with another trophy that means so much," Martinez told Sport Mediaset.
“There is always so much talk about Inter, but you have to look at what we’ve achieved over so many years. We have to keep just sticking to our path, this is another trophy."
