Interim bail plea of ex-constable with Rs 100 crore ‘assets’ rejected

Bhopal: MP High Court vacation bench rejected former transport constable Saurabh Sharma’s temporary bail application for 60 days to take care of his wife requiring sinus surgery.Sharma is in jail on money laundering charges after Rs 3 crore cash detected from his residence and another Rs 10 crore plus 52 kg gold from deserted SUV allegedly belonging to him in Lokayukta raid in January 2025.

Incriminating documents showing assets worth Rs 100-150 crore allegedly unearthed in raid at former transport constable’s house. Following raid, income tax and Enforcement Directorate joined investigation against him and alleged accomplices.Sharma got bail from Lokayukta special court at Bhopal but in money laundering case, he is still in jail.Court asked for health status report of his wife after Sharma moved temporary bail application.

Health report said wife diagnosed with chronic Rhinosinusitis (CRS), left-sided, with suspected migraine and surgery advised.ED counsel argued no emergency situation, earlier regular bail application rejected on merits on November 27, 2025, finding involvement in offence. Special Leave to Appeal before Supreme Court dismissed as withdrawn. ED counsel further argued wife’s health condition not serious and other family members available, therefore no case for temporary bail.

Justice Vishal Mishra said medical report suggests no emergency condition and during arguments admitted other family members available including in-laws. As regular bail application already rejected finding involvement in commission of offence coupled with no serious emergency situation as pointed in medical expert report, no case for temporary bail made out.
