An international naval trainee went missing Sunday after he fell into a shipping channel in Kochi.
According to sources, Indian Navy diving teams have launched a thorough search and rescue operation.
The sources said the international trainee was undergoing training at the Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala.
The “accidental fall” of the trainee in the Ernakulam channel was reported around 5.30 pm.
“During the preliminary investigation, it has been ascertained that the trainee was on leave at Kochi en route to his country,” said an official.
However, the official did not reveal either the name or the native country of the missing international trainee.
