Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has directed the officials to introduce Family Benefit Cards that facilitate tracking of the benefits being availed of by the people under various welfare schemes in order to deliver them in a more efficient manner and fulfil any requirements that are pending.
Addressing a review meeting on the Family Benefit Monitoring System at the Secretariat on Thursday, Mr. Naidu said each department should compile its data and consolidate the same so that the government would have complete information and a clear picture of the ground realities, thereby enabling it to take appropriate decisions.
Focus should be laid on social re-engineering as some sections of the Backward Classes and Scheduled Castes were lagging behind economically, socially and politically. There were many people in the OCs languishing in poverty. A reliable database would help in identifying backwardness. Data integration was, therefore, of utmost significance, he said.
Valuable asset
The Chief Minister said people were the most valuable asset of any nation / State and a growing population means rising wealth. Keeping this in view, the government would soon introduce a Population Policy that would harness the potential of the vast human resource, he added.
A growing population would give a big boost to the economy. The government would see to it that families did not break up for the sake of availing various schemes, he added.
