Iran’s state TV was hacked, airing a message amid live news that called on people to take to the streets, multiple reports suggested.

Reports also said the same was done with the help of satellites, suggesting that the message appeared only on screens receiving the channel via the satellite.

A video, widely shared on social media, showed a TV screen inside what appears to be a home, displaying the chaos on the streets of Iran.

Women in the video could be seen chopping their hair using a scissor.

This comes amid the escalating conflict between Iran and Israel, and days after the headquarters of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) in Tehran was struck by an Israeli missile on June 16, while anchor Sahar Emani was delivering a live bulletin.
