Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held separate phone conversations with his counterparts from Saudi Arabia and Qatar while on a visit to Pakistan, discussing the evolving situation in the region.

According to officials, Araghchi spoke with Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan on Sunday, where the two leaders reviewed recent regional developments. During the call, Araghchi briefed him on ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at bringing a lasting end to the US-Israeli-imposed war against Iran.

Earlier in the day, Araghchi arrived in Islamabad, which is currently playing a role in facilitating talks between Iran and the United States. As part of his outreach, he also held a phone conversation with his Qatari counterpart, focusing on the same set of developments.

Iran FM Araghchi Returns To Islamabad After Oman Visit

Seyyed Abbas Araghchi returned to Islamabad on Sunday evening after completing a brief diplomatic visit to Oman, according to Iran’s state broadcaster Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting.

This marks Araghchi’s second visit to the Pakistani capital within two days. Officials said his stop in Islamabad is short, and he is expected to travel onward to Moscow after concluding his engagements.

According to CNN, citing Iranian sources, Araghchi arrived at Pakistan’s Nur Khan Airbase on the outskirts of Islamabad. The visit is being described as a transit halt as part of ongoing diplomatic efforts.

Focus On Sustaining US-Iran Talks

Reports suggest that the visit is linked to efforts to keep diplomatic channels open between Iran and the United States. Geo News, quoting sources, said Araghchi’s return is aimed at sustaining dialogue despite US President Donald Trump cancelling a planned visit by his representatives to Islamabad.

Araghchi had left Islamabad late on Saturday after holding high-level talks with Pakistani leadership. During those discussions, he shared a framework aimed at “permanently ending" the ongoing conflict involving the United States in West Asia.

In a post on X after his departure, he said, “Shared Iran’s position concerning a workable framework to permanently end the war on Iran. Have yet to see if the U.S. is truly serious about diplomacy."

Iran Outlines Position To Pakistan

In a statement shared on Telegram, Araghchi said he had explained Iran’s “principled positions regarding the latest developments related to the ceasefire and the complete end of the imposed war" against the Islamic Republic by US and Israeli forces.

However, the developments have cast doubt over Pakistan’s efforts to play a mediating role in the ongoing tensions, especially after the reported cancellation of the US delegation’s visit.

Talks Held In Oman Before Return

Before arriving in Islamabad, Araghchi held high-level talks in Muscat with Sultan Haitham bin Tariq at Al-Baraka Palace, according to Iranian state media Press TV.

The discussions focused on bilateral ties, regional developments and diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions in West Asia. Araghchi briefed the Omani leadership on Iran’s perspective and appreciated Oman’s role in facilitating dialogue.

Sultan Haitham, in turn, reiterated Oman’s commitment to mediation and stressed the importance of diplomatic solutions to maintain regional stability, the report said.
