Iran has flagged both internal and external action as tensions rise ahead of a deadline set by US President Donald Trump over the Strait of Hormuz.

Hossein-Ali Amiri, first deputy of the Islamic Republic’s judiciary, warned Iranians against what he described as “accompanying the enemy".

He said authorities would take a “harsh, heavy, and unrelenting approach" and called on individuals linked to the regime to identify “suspects" and cooperate with the judiciary.

IRGC signals direct retaliation

At the same time, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said it would respond in kind to any attack on its power plants.

“If you strike electricity, we will strike electricity," the IRGC said in a statement carried by Fars News Agency.

The warning comes after Iran’s military said it is ready to close the Strait of Hormuz indefinitely if the United States carries out threats to bomb Iranian power plants.

Iran also said Israeli energy and communications infrastructure, along with power facilities in regional countries hosting US bases, would be targeted.

The IRGC said strikes on electricity systems would disrupt essential services, including hospitals, emergency centres, water systems and desalination plants, calling such actions “inhumane".

The Iran war is currently on its fourth week.
