'Iranian Delegation Going To Qatar': Trump Insists Doha Meeting Is On As Tehran Denies Any Scheduled Talks

Iran said no meetings with the United States are scheduled in the coming days, rejecting Trump’s announcement that talks between the two countries would take place in Doha.

United States President Donald Trump on Tuesday reiterated that a meeting involving Iran would take place in Doha, even as Tehran maintained that no talks with Washington were scheduled.

Speaking to reporters in Washington, Trump said the purpose of the meeting was the “denuclearisation of Iran" and expressed confidence about its outcome.

“There’ll be a meeting on that tomorrow in Doha, and they’re going to Qatar. They’re — I think they’ve already left, or they’re just about getting ready to leave. So we’ll see how that goes. But we’re doing very well on that front. The meeting in Doha is going to be perhaps important, perhaps not. We’re going to find out. But we’re winning militarily. It’s almost won militarily, I would say," Trump said.

Describing the objective of the proposed meeting, Trump added, “It’s the denuclearisation of Iran. We don’t want them to have a nuclear weapon — and they’re not going to have a nuclear weapon. They’ve agreed to that in all fairness."

No Talks Scheduled In Doha: Iran

Earlier on Monday, Iran said no meetings with the United States are scheduled in the coming days, rejecting US President Trump’s announcement that talks between the two countries would take place in Doha on Tuesday.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said an Iranian technical delegation would travel to Qatar this week, but stressed that the visit was unrelated to any meeting with US officials, Al Jazeera reported.

“No talks between Iran and the United States are scheduled in the coming days," Baghaei said.

According to the foreign ministry, the delegation heading to Doha will focus on “implementing the provisions of the memorandum of understanding" and will not hold discussions with US representatives, Iran’s IRNA news agency reported.

The ministry added that the visit by US officials to Qatar “has no connection to the visit of the Iranian delegation."

Separately, the Iranian embassy in Qatar said preparations for talks between Tehran and Washington had not begun.

“We have not received any official information on this matter so far," the embassy said in a statement carried by Russia’s RIA Novosti news agency.

Iran Requested A Meeting, It Will Take Place In Doha: Trump

Trump had earlier announced on Truth Social that a meeting with Iran would take place in Qatar.

“IRAN HAS REQUESTED A MEETING. IT WILL TAKE PLACE TOMORROW IN DOHA!" Trump wrote, without identifying who would participate.

Later, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told Fox News that US special envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump’s adviser and son-in-law Jared Kushner “will be flying to Doha for high-level meetings this week."

Trump’s announcement came after Iran held its first talks with Oman on managing the Strait of Hormuz since the US-Iran agreement was signed, and amid an ongoing pause in hostilities between Washington and Tehran.
