Is Brock Lesnar retiring at WWE SummerSlam 2026?
Since last year, it has been rumored that Brock Lesnar will retire from in-ring competition at SummerSlam this year in his hometown. An interesting turn took place at WrestleMania 42, when Lesnar suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of Oba Femi and left his wrestling boots and gloves inside the ring, signaling retirement.
However, that was not the case, as Lesnar returned a month later to have a rematch against Femi at WWE Clash in Italy PLE, which he won.The Beast Incarnate took another break before resurfacing back into the WWE landscape on the June 29 episode of Monday Night RAW. Lesnar confronted Femi, who won the King of the Ring tournament at Night of Champions. The former WWE Champion attacked Femi and challenged him to a Hell in a Cell match which was made official for SummerSlam 2026.
Lesnar’s gesture at WrestleMania and then returning to WWE could be interpreted as his final appearance at The Show of Shows. This in turn, could also mean that he is likely to retire before the next Mania takes place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in 2027. Moreover, SummerSlam 2026 taking place in his hometown could be the perfect place for him to close out the chapter of his illustrious wrestling career. Lastly, he is expected to conclude his feud with Oba Femi, which could end with The Ruler’s victory and Lesnar endorsing him on his way out from WWE.
Oba Femi’s statement also hinted at Brock Lesnar’s retirement
Oba Femi earned himself a World Championship title match at SummerSlam 2026 for winning the King of the Ring tournament. However, after The Ruler’s aforementioned altercation with Brock Lesnar on RAW, he challenged him to a match at SummerSlam, which was accepted by Lesnar under the Hell in a Cell stipulation. Later on, RAW GM Adam Pearce questioned Femi’s decision to forgo his hard-earned title match at SummerSlam.
The Ruler said that the championships will remain there, and he could go after them any time he wanted.
His statement was a major hint that Lesnar’s retirement might happen at WWE SummerSlam. With a big match on the horizon, it will be interesting to see if SummerSlam is indeed the end for Brock Lesnar. Also read: “Rest Easy”- WWE star Alexa Bliss announces heartbreaking personal news
