‘Is Siya having an affair?’ : Ketan Agarwal raised doubts over fiancée’s link with Chetan Chaudhary, claims father in FIR

PUNE: Pune realtor Ketan Agarwal had allegedly expressed concerns about his fiancée Siya Goyal’s behaviour and suspected that she was having an affair with co-accused Chetan Chaudhary before he was allegedly pushed to death from Lohagad Fort, according to the FIR lodged by his father Vishal Agarwal.The FIR states that Ketan had repeatedly questioned his family about whether Siya’s background had been properly verified before their marriage was fixed.Ketan, 26, was allegedly pushed from a cliff at Lohagad Fort in Pune district on June 18 by Siya (20) and her alleged lover Chetan Chaudhary (22), police have said. Both accused were arrested and are currently in police custody till July 3.According to the FIR, Ketan’s father stated that after his engagement with Siya, his son told him that she had been troubling him over “different small issues”.“Siya has been troubling me for the last one month over different small issues. Since she is younger, I thought she was behaving this way and did not pay much attention to it,” Ketan reportedly told his father as per the FIR.The FIR mentions that on June 5, Siya allegedly insisted on visiting Lohagad Fort and created a scene, asking Ketan to accompany her there.After Ketan and Siya returned from Lohagad Fort, Ketan again spoke to his father about Siya’s behaviour and asked whether her background had been checked properly.

“After Ketan and Siya returned from Lohagad Fort, I again asked Ketan whether he had taken complete information about Siya. I also asked him about Siya’s phone calls and whether she spoke continuously on the phone while being with him,” the FIR states.Ketan allegedly told his father that Siya’s friend Chetan used to call her frequently and that he felt there was a relationship between them.“My younger brother Vijay Agarwal also told me that he had doubts about Siya and Chetan’s relationship.

However, my daughter-in-law Rakhi Agarwal told us that there was nothing like that and tried to convince us,” the FIR states.According to police, the family had reassured Ketan as Siya’s family was related to them through a common link.The match between Ketan and Siya was reportedly fixed through one Narendra Mittal, who had brought Siya’s marriage proposal to the Agarwal family, saying she was his brother-in-law’s daughter.Mittal’s sister was married to Praveen Goyal, making him Siya’s maternal uncle and also a cousin of Vishal Agarwal.Because of the family connection, the Agarwals agreed to the match. After meeting Siya, the family liked her and the engagement ceremony was held in February at Bund Garden in Pune.Lohagad visit before the alleged murderThe FIR states that on June 17 at around 11pm, Siya called Ketan on WhatsApp and told him that she wanted to visit Lohagad Fort again on June 18.Ketan informed his mother Rakhi Agarwal about the plan.The FIR states that Rakhi told them, “You have already visited Lohagad earlier, so do not go again.”Siya allegedly insisted and argued with her.Rakhi then spoke to Siya’s father and informed him about Siya’s plan. According to the FIR, Siya’s father assured her that he would speak to Siya and stop her from going.However, at around 8. 30am on June 18, Siya allegedly called Ketan and said she was ready and would come to Lohagad Fort.At around 10. 45am, Siya’s mother Puja Goyal allegedly called Rakhi Agarwal and said:“Ketan has fallen from Lohagad Fort. You should immediately come to Lohagad.”After receiving the information, Vishal Agarwal, Rakhi Agarwal, Vijay Agarwal and other relatives rushed to Lohagad Fort.According to the FIR, local people and police personnel were already present at the spot.Police and others searched for Ketan, who was found lying injured in the valley.

He was brought out and taken to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead before treatment.The body was later handed over to the family after post-mortem examination.Family suspects murder after visiting spotThe FIR states that on June 21, Vishal Agarwal, Vijay Agarwal, his friend Navdeep Pawankumar Jindal and others visited Lohagad Fort and searched the place from where Ketan had fallen.According to the FIR, the family found that the location was dangerous and that it was not possible for a person to accidentally fall from there.Vishal Agarwal then suspected that his son was murdered by Siya and Chetan.The FIR states:“Therefore, I suspect that my son Ketan Agarwal, aged 26 years, was murdered by his fiancée Siya Pavan Goyal, aged 20 years, resident of Lilavati 78/21, New Era Society, Gangadhar Samaj, Kothrud Road, Vibhavadi Market area, Pune, and her boyfriend Chetan Chaudhary (full details not known).”It further states that Chetan and Siya allegedly conspired and pushed Ketan from Lohagad Fort into the valley at around 10.45 am on June 18, causing his death.Police probe Ketan’s concerns about Siya and ChetanPolice sources said Ketan had earlier expressed suspicion about Siya’s closeness with Chetan and told his family that she frequently mentioned Chetan during their conversations.According to police, after their planned pre-wedding trip to Bali, Indonesia, was cancelled on June 6, Ketan again approached his father and complained that Siya often fought with him over small issues.Police said Ketan’s father reassured him that Siya was young and that her behaviour could be counselled.Police have also said that on June 14, four days before his death, Ketan and Siya had visited the same spot at Lohagad Fort.According to police, Siya allegedly tried to push Ketan from the cliff on that day as well, but he managed to hold onto a bush.When Ketan questioned why she pushed him, police said Siya allegedly raised a false alarm about a snake and tried to make it appear that she had saved him.After returning from Lohagad Fort on June 14, Ketan again allegedly asked his father whether a proper inquiry into Siya’s background had been conducted before fixing the marriage.Police said Ketan told his father that Siya’s phone was often busy whenever he called her and that she frequently spoke about Chetan.Ketan allegedly asked his father whether Siya was having an affair.His family again reassured him, saying Siya belonged to their extended family and that everything had been verified through Mittal.The police investigation into the alleged murder case is underway.(With agency inputs)
