The Israel Defense Forces said it recently carried out an airstrike on an Iranian facility near Tehran that it claims was linked to sensitive work connected to nuclear weapons development.
According to the military, the location targeted was the Taleghan compound, which it described as a site where Iran had been developing key capabilities related to nuclear arms.
The Israeli military said the strike was conducted as part of a series of air force operations in the area over the past few days. Officials stated that the compound had been used for work involving advanced explosives and sensitive experiments tied to the alleged nuclear weapons programme known as the AMAD Project.
The site had previously been targeted by Israel in October 2024 following an Iranian missile attack earlier that month. According to the Israeli military, the earlier strike had damaged the facility, but intelligence gathered recently suggested that Iran had begun efforts to repair and restore the compound.
The Israeli military said it detected steps taken by Iranian authorities to rehabilitate the site after the previous attack. In response, the air force launched new strikes aimed at further damaging the facility.
In a statement, the Israeli military said Iran has continued working to expand capabilities that could support the development of nuclear weapons. It added that the latest strike forms part of a broader series of operations designed to weaken what it described as the Iranian regime’s nuclear ambitions.
