The Ferrari duo gave the passionate Tifosi exactly what they were waiting for at the Italian Grand Prix in Monza on Friday. The weekend kicked off on a high note for the special red-and-blue Ferrari livery as the team delivered strong performances in front of their home crowd.
While Lewis Hamilton topped the timesheets in FP1, Charles Leclerc impressed with a second-place finish. Lando Norris bounced back in FP2, reclaiming the top spot. Leclerc and Sainz kept the Ferrari fans happy by finishing second and third in both sessions.
Italian Grand Prix FP1 Results
It was an unusual sight in FP1, with none of the top three championship contenders finishing in the top three. Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc claimed the first two spots, while Carlos Sainz rounded out the top three.
The atmosphere was electric for the Ferrari faithful, who packed the stands to witness the Niki Lauda-inspired Ferrari livery in action.Max Verstappen finished fourth, while Lando Norris had to settle for sixth. Oscar Piastri did not participate, as Alex Dunne was given a chance in his place.
Kimi Antonelli took fifth, with George Russell finishing eighth. Alex Albon secured seventh for Williams. Fernando Alonso, coming off a strong showing in Zandvoort, ended up ninth.
He was followed by Racing Bulls’ new sensation, Isack Hadjar, in tenth. Hadjar had a scary moment when he ran wide into the gravel, damaging his car’s floor.
Italian Grand Prix FP2 Highlights
Lando Norris made a strong recovery after a below-par FP1, topping the timesheets in FP2. Charles Leclerc maintained his excellent form by finishing second in both sessions, while Carlos Sainz held third place consistently.
Oscar Piastri returned to his McLaren seat but managed only fourth place.
After leading FP1, Lewis Hamilton slipped to fifth, while Max Verstappen continued to struggle, finishing sixth. Alex Albon once again claimed seventh.Mercedes had a tough session at Monza. After finishing fifth in FP1, Kimi Antonelli ended up in the gravel during FP2 and dropped down the order. His teammate George Russell faced mechanical issues after losing power at the end of FP1. The problem persisted in FP2, forcing his car to stop soon after the session began.
