Jagan, Sharmila pay tributes to YSR on birth anniversary at Idupulapaya

Tirupati: Former chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy and APCC chief YS Sharmila paid rich tributes to their father and former chief minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy on the eve of his birth anniversary at his memorial at Idupulapaya in Kadapa district on Wednesday.Accompanied by Kadapa MP Y S Avinash Reddy, former deputy chief minister S B Amzath Basha and other YSRCP leaders, Jagan arrived at Dr YSR ghat and paid floral tributes to his father.

Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Y S Sharmila Reddy has called her father and former chief minister late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy as a ‘legendary leader’, who had impacted the lives of crores of people during his short stint of five years as the chief minister.Speaking after paying tributes at YSR Ghat in Idupulapaya of Kadapa district on Wednesday, marking his 77th birth anniversary, she recalled the Arogyasri, 108 ambulance, fee reimbursement and Jalayagnam as some of his pet schemes that had turned the lives of the poor for the better.Terming him as a champion of farmers, she recalled goes the farm loan waiver and the free power for agricultural collections bettered the lives of farmers, who, she said, were till then affected by monsoon vagaries, high input costs, lower margins and the lack of state intervention.

Sharmila later joined her family members, including her mother Y S Vijayamma, in celebrating her father’s birthday by cutting a cake. “The Rajasekhara Reddy family expresses its gratitude to the crores of people who remember him today on this occasion”, she thanked in a statement.
