Celebrated author Jane Fallon, known for her relationship with Ricky Gervais, has bravely announced her breast cancer diagnosis. Fortunately discovered early during a routine mammogram just before Christmas, she has a clean bill of health with promising prospects.

Jane Fallon, the best-selling author and longtime partner of Ricky Gervais, has shared that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer. She said the disease was caught at a “very early stage thankfully” and added that “the prognosis is excellent.

” Fallon revealed the news in a personal Instagram post, where she explained that the diagnosis came after a routine mammogram before Christmas. She said she had “no symptoms” and praised the radiographer who “spotted something iffy” and sent her for more tests. Fallon also made clear that, while the process has been difficult, she is receiving strong medical support and remains hopeful about the road ahead.

Jane Fallon shared her diagnosis on Instagram on March 12. In the same update, she explained how doctors found the cancer and outlined the treatment path ahead.

Fallon wrote, “I had a routine mammogram a week before Christmas.” She added, “I had no symptoms but the brilliant radiographer spotted something iffy & sent me for further tests & eventually a biopsy.” Since then, the 65-year-old said she has had “more mammograms, more biopsies and an MRI so they can pinpoint the problem area precisely.

Relationship with Ricky Gervais

Fallon was candid about the emotional toll. “It’s been a lot, I’m not going to lie,” she wrote.

She also shared that “my surgery is scheduled for the week after next and I just want to get it over with now.” Even so, she reassured followers that she is getting “incredible care” and that “all will be fine.” She added that, for now, she is not interested in “engaging with much beyond audiobooks & jigsaws.” In a lighter moment, she gave a nod to her cat by writing, “Nurse Pickle wondering when lunch is.

Ricky Gervais has not spoken publicly about Fallon’s diagnosis. The couple has been together since 1982 after meeting at University College London. Over the years, they have also spoken openly about why they never married. Ricky told The Times in 2010, “Don’t see the point. We are married for all intents and purposes.” He added, “Everything’s shared and actually our fake marriage has lasted longer than a real one.” Fallon echoed that view in 2018, telling the Daily Mail, “I think if one of us really cared then we would probably do it,” adding that marriage was never something either of them really needed.
