Malayalam actor Jayaram recalled a humorous incident on the sets of 'Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo' where Allu Arjun helped him memorize difficult Telugu dialogues. Arjun famously stuck the lines on his own face and chest for Jayaram to read. Jayaram revealed this prompting technique was an old trick he'd learned from the Malayalam film 'China Town'.
Malayalam actor Jayaram has worked in Telugu films and has a memorable performance in his bag with the Allu Arjun starrer ‘Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo’ directed by Trivikram Sukumaran. In the movie, he played the role of Allu Arjun's father and recently, he shared a funny moment from the sets after he could not memorize his Telugu lines.
Allu Arjun steps in to help
While speaking to Club FM, Jayaram said that some Telugu dialogues were very hard for him. He tried many times, but he could not remember those lines. No matter how much he practised, the words would not stay in his mind. The ‘Abraham Ozler’ actor said that Allu Arjun came forward to help him. He agreed to do something funny and kind. Jayaram said, “One day, he came on set sticking paper to his face and told me, ‘Write whatever you want.
’”‘Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo’ turned out to be a huge hit upon its release. The film starred Allu Arjun, Pooja Hegde, Tabu, Murali Sharma and others.The papers had the difficult Telugu lines written on them. Some were stuck on Allu Arjun’s chest and some on his forehead. Jayaram could read the lines and say them properly. Jayaram laughed while telling this story and said it helped him a lot.
An old trick from ‘China Town’
Jayaram also said this idea was not new. He learned this trick during his 2011 Malayalam film ‘China Town’. That movie starred Mohanlal, Dileep, and others. The villain was played by Pradeep Rawat. Jayaram said Pradeep did not know Malayalam well. Even prompting did not help him. He said, “Nothing worked for him.” Finally, the team stuck the lines on Dileep’s chest and Lal sir’s face. Pradeep read them and delivered the dialogue.

On the work front, Jayaram was last seen in ‘Kantara Chapter 1’, released in 2025. The film was written, led and directed by
Rishab Shetty
. Jayaram played King Rajashekara, the ruler of the ancient Bangra kingdom.
