Patna: JD(U) on Monday said it was unfazed by Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor’s decision to contest the Bankipur assembly byelection, asserting that the NDA-backed BJP candidate would retain the seat.“There is no problem with PK contesting the Bankipur byelection, as every party has the right to enter the poll fray,” JD(U) legislature party leader in the assembly and rural development minister Shrawan Kumar said here on Monday.“In the 2025 assembly elections, his party was completely rejected, as it did not win even a single seat. Everybody knows that a byelection is fought on the govt’s performance, which includes 20 years of work under former CM Nitish Kumar and now under BJP CM Samrat Choudhary. We will win the Bankipur byelection,” he added. When asked whether smaller parties aligning with Jan Suraaj could strengthen Kishor’s prospects, Shrawan said most parties outside the
NDA
had won only one to six assembly seats. “It is the people who will decide the winner. Alliance formation alone will not ensure his (PK’s) victory,” he said.
