Jeremy Clarkson has referred himself as the “world’s luckiest man”, as he announced his remission from prostate cancer. The Clarkson's Farm star had opened up about his “aggressive” cancer diagnosis in the emotional season 5 finale of the Prime Video docuseries on June 17.

Finally the remission

While talking about his health, Clarkson confirmed to the Sunday Times that follow-up testing carried out two months ago had revealed no evidence of cancer, and he is currently in remission. The star is overjoyed to share his current outcome."It was an aggressive type of cancer. It could have spread, it could have gone into the pancreas, it could have gone anywhere, and that would have been trouble."

Advise to the men

The renowned journalist, TV presenter and writer had advised his followers to go through check-up and “to not be one of the" 12,000 people, men [who] die every year in the UK from prostate cancer".“This is why I have to say to everybody who’s reading this, please, please, please go and get checked. It’s not uncomfortable, it’s not undignified. And it’s a no-brainer. I did, and that’s why I’m sitting here talking to you 11 months down the line," Clarkson said. "I’ve seen so many people die of cancer. It doesn’t bear thinking about what it must be like to live knowing that an illness is going to kill you. It must be very, very, very distressing” he added as reported by Entertainment.

Recurrence of the disease

The 66-year-old Jeremy informed The Sunday Times that recently he has been going through regular screenings to take care of his condition, as there lies a 40% chance of the disease coming back again."I try to be positive. I've decided to be one of the 60% who doesn't have a recurrence," Clarkson said as reported by BBC. Jeremy had his first encounter with cancer in May 2025. Through blood tests, MRI, and biopsy, cancerous cells were confirmed to be in his prostate gland, a walnut-sized organ below the bladder which is part of the male reproductive system.

He was treated for a malignant tumor last August with a high-intensity focused ultrasound.Clarkson was also going through vascular and cardiac problems, and fitted with two life-saving stents in 2024 to prevent a fatal heart attack."That was horrific and it was all my own fault," he said of a health scare amid his cancer treatment. "I’d been on drugs for heart issues and I had to come off them during the cancer treatment.

Two or three weeks after the cancer operation, I thought I’d better put myself back on those blood thinners."Big mistake, huge. It [resulted in] a very big emergency in the middle of the night. I’m not even going to go into the treatment that was required as a result of that, because it was horrible. I didn’t ask a doctor, I just thought, 'I’m sure it will be all right to go back on blood thinners'", he added.

What is a prostate cancer?

According to the National Cancer Institute, prostate cancer is the most common cancer.

It usually grows very slowly, and finding and treating it before symptoms occur may not improve men's health or help them live longer.

While talking about the limitations regarding his food he said that the only thing he try the hardest to avoid, is processed foods. If it contains one thing, a steak, an egg, whatever it might be, as long as it’s got just one ingredient, then it’s good to go for him.
