Ranchi: State govt will soon recruit over 1,200 doctors to strengthen healthcare services and ensure quality treatment to patients, health minister Irfan Ansari announced on Tuesday.Ansari, while handing over appointment letters to 76 newly appointed medical officers on the occasion of World TB Day, said that the department is soon going to recruit doctors to address the shortage of specialists in govt-run hospitals in the state.“A requisition for 1,243 doctors, including 297 medical officers, 189 assistant professors, 97 assistant professors (super specialists) and 660 specialist doctors, has already been sent to the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) for recruitment.
The commission is soon going to publish an advertisement for the posts, and the recruitment process is also likely to be completed this year itself,” the minister said.He added that apart from recruiting doctors through the JPSC, the department is also planning to recruit doctors through the National Health Mission (NHM) to address the manpower shortage and expedite the recruitment processes.Apart from recruiting doctors, the minister said that the department has also initiated the installation of CT scan and MRI machines in all medical colleges and district sadar hospitals to ensure patients are not forced to visit other states to seek better health facilities.
The minister said that the state has set a target to eradicate TB by 2030. “To achieve the goal, specialised health camps will be organised across the state, especially in tribal-dominated areas,” Ansari added.Assistant chief secretary of health department, Ajoy Kumar Singh, said that over 9.5 lakh people were screened for detection of TB cases in 2025, “which is double the number of tests done in 2024”. “This year, we have set a target to conduct 12 lakh tests across the state, for better identification of TB patients and provide them treatment to eradicate the disease,” he said.
