BOKARO: Two bike-borne men opened fire on a tractor driver near Bandhdih railway siding, under the Chas Muffasil police station area, on Tuesday morning. The victim, identified as Jadu Sahis (39), sustained multiple bullet injuries to his abdomen, thigh, and leg.Severely injured, Jadu was immediately taken to Bokaro General Hospital (BGH). Dr Awadh Kumar, in charge of the casualty ward, confirmed that a medical team began treatment and is monitoring his condition closely.After the attack, the two armed men fled the scene. Police have launched a massive search and intensified checking in the area. SP Bokaro Harvinder Singh confirmed the incident, saying, “Preliminary investigation points towards extortion or personal rivalry.
To expedite the probe, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been constituted.”Sources revealed that before firing, the attackers forced a pamphlet into the victim’s hand. The note warned that any contractor bidding for tenders in Mahuda and Bhojudih areas without “prior understanding” would face a similar fate. Investigators believe the shooting is directly linked to extortion and tender-related disputes.
Local residents voiced concern that criminals are becoming increasingly fearless, with daylight shootings becoming a disturbing trend. Tuesday’s attack has triggered widespread fear and raised serious questions about law and order in the district.
