 Case against couple for duping Benaulim resident

Colva: Police have registered a case of cheating against a couple allegedly accused of duping a resident of Benaulim by making false promises of overseas employment and collecting a substantial sum of money.Police said the complaint was filed by Jerson Anthony Gracias, who alleged that the accused, Mosmi Khan and her husband Revil, lured him with assurances of securing a job in Belgium. Trusting their claims, Gracias reportedly paid Rs 3.2 lakh in multiple instalments on different occasions. However, the accused allegedly failed to fulfill their promise and did not arrange the employment.The matter gained attention after Benaulim MLA Venzy Viegas recently accompanied several alleged victims to the South Goa police headquarters in Margao to formally lodge their complaints.

The victims claimed they had been similarly misled under the pretext of overseas job opportunities.Following the complaint, the case involving the Benaulim victim has been transferred to the Colva police station for further investigation. Police officials stated that inquiries are currently under way to ascertain the full extent of the alleged fraud.
